Turning armor into a crown

Meet Kerice - Founder of The Stoop.

As a corporate professional, the headwrap was a disguise for mental health challenges. As a result, the alter ego that emerged powered her through leading teams in the technology industry. The fabric wrapped all her pieces by day, only to unravel them at night.

During a severe burnout in 2022, it became clear that the life she was meant to live, needed to be done without disguise. Facing mental health challenges brought clarity to the type of work she would now pursue and how she would speak about real-life challenges. Kerice is entering her second year in a clinical counseling program and proudly advocating for open and honest mental health conversations.

The Stoop is not just a shop. It’s a culmination of stories, beautifully curated headwraps, and accessories that held her pieces together like armor.

Now she brings it to you - this time as a crown.

Why The Stoop?

A note from Kerice

In a circle of women sharing their impression of self-care, when it was my turn I told a story about The Stoop. At home in Jamaica, I can sit by the porch and my people will find me.

We banter, share tea, some food, and a few laughs. After leaving The Stoop I am lighter and I feel more connected to my community. Moving to Canada, I found myself looking for a place to belong, somewhere to sit, trusting my people would come or I would find new people to belong to.

The Stoop is a reminder that there is access to community care wherever you are. It’s not a place or a thing you do, it's a feeling.

When you visit The Stoop, we hope you find a space where you see yourself reflected, read relatable stories, and lock hands in a community of women searching for the same thing.
